On March 13, 2025, the Spectrum team visited Binh Tho Development Center in Thu Duc as part of the “Spectrum Community Outreach” initiative. The program brought free eye screenings and sponsored prescription glasses for children with vision difficulties. Staying true to the mission “Care For Your Eyes, Shine For Your Future,” Spectrum is committed to helping young students not only improve their eyesight but also embrace brighter opportunities in both learning and life.

A JOURNEY OF SPREADING KINDNESS

At the event, Spectrum’s team carried out comprehensive eye examination for over 120 children at Binh Tho Shelter and identified 38 children with vision problems, especially, 8 children in urgent need of hospital referrals for serious conditions

Beyond the check-ups, the children were also guided on how to protect their eyes from daily harm – an early lesson in caring for their own vision. 

More than just a health check, the event offered meaningful moments where the kids were gently cared for, listened to, and seen. The excited expressions and innocent smiles when trying on their new glasses truly captured the heart of what Spectrum aims to achieve.

WHEN A PAIR OF GLASSES BECOMES A GATEWAY TO THE FUTURE

Following the exams, children who needed visual support were given fully sponsored eyeglasses by Spectrum – helping them see more clearly and grow more confident in their everyday lives. For many of them, this was the very first pair of glasses they’d ever owned. To these kids, glasses weren’t just a vision aid, they symbolized the beginning of something new: the chance to explore, to learn, and to chase dreams.

During the handover event on March 31, 2024, more than 30 children received their very first pair of glasses. The program didn’t stop at giving, our team also showed them how to properly clean their glasses and introduced simple eye massage techniques to help protect and maintain healthy vision every day.

Seeing the joy light up on each child’s face as they viewed the world clearly for the first time only deepened Spectrum’s belief in the path they’re walking. “Spectrum Community Outreach” is more than a charitable initiative — it’s a long-term promise to bring meaningful, lasting value to the community, one child and one clear vision at a time

Spectrum would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the British International School HCMC (BIS) for playing a vital role in connecting us with Binh Tho Development Center. Thanks to BIS, the “Spectrum Community Outreach” program was able to reach children in need of vision care, bringing practical and heartfelt impact to their lives.

Beyond the connection, BIS also walked alongside us in organizing a glasses donation drive, allowing generous individuals to donate gently used eyewear. These contributions are incredibly valuable resources that will help Spectrum continue lighting the way for children with visual challenges — one pair of glasses at a time.

BIS’s support not only helped this event become a meaningful success, but also opened doors to more potential collaborations in the future. We look forward to strengthening this partnership and continuing to spread goodness together with BIS and our wider community.
